Zelda: Skyward Sword Website Reveals

Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Website

Just above this sentence is a link to the official Nintendo website for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. If you haven't been following the hype, Skyward Sword will be released November 20th and has already received critical acclaim. Some critics consider it to be better than Ocarina of Time, which has held the title "Greatest Game of All Time" for over ten years.

As always, Nintendo released a website for their upcoming game and this one's packed with information. The first thing that popped up at me was a section for exploring the world of Hyrule. This has revealed things such as Zombie Bokoblins, boat riding in the Lanayru Desert, and a Skyloft minigame known called Pumpkin Pull.

The map of Hyrule obviously names many locations. Some we already know, but this really shows what we're looking for:
An image I took from the official website for LoZ: SS.

The map is interactive, meaning you can click on locations and read about them. This includes videos, images, mini-games, and more. I haven't seen this anywhere else, but the website includes the opening cinematic for the game.

It would be great if someone could extract images and video from the flash. This would mean we would have access to the individual sections to the map, a render of Link's box art pose, and some other cool stuff. In the event that this happens, I'd like to know! Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy Skyward Sword on November 20th!

Super Mario REBOOT "Prototype Demo" Coming This Month

That's right- Super Mario REBOOT, my current Mario fan-game, will have it's first playable download this November. Here's what to expect:

-About 5 or so Levels. I've made five levels so far, but I need to clean some things and maybe make a few more.

-Toad Houses, Hammer Bros, and Card Games will all be on the map.

-Mario outfitting his Classic Fire suit from Super Mario Bros. 3 and the Raccoon Suit's return.

-Well Synthesized music. The music will mainly be remixes and arrangements of the classic Super Mario Bros. themes.

Progress has been going well, and I'm working on this as much as I can. While I'm on the subject of the game, I guess I can tell you about the Worlds of the game. I have not decided what themes each world will have, but there will not be many worlds, 3 at the least and 7 at the most. This is for the reason that each world will have 20-30 levels. I'd like to have 100 or more levels in the final version of REBOOT, and these levels will be more unique to themselves rather to their worlds.

Stay tune for more updates and on a few older fan-games.... :)

Super Mario REBOOT Gets Logo- And News

Well, it has an official logo made from scratch (except for the Mario silhouette)! I originally intended to make this game a remake of Super Mario Bros. mixed with The Lost Levels. I decided to drop this and make it an original adventure. However, 1-1 from SMB will still be the first level. Not only that, 1-2 from Super Mario Bros. 3 will also appear in the game, as well as other various stages from Mario games or completely different games!

I have plans to release a Prototype Demo of REBOOT in November or December. This would include 5 to 6 levels, two of those being 1-2 and 1-1 from SMB and SMB3 respectively. These levels will all have Ace Coins too.

You will notice some cool secrets in 1-1 that were never there before, but the only hint I'll give you is this: You can find a Raccoon suit in the level that was never there, but you can only get it once in that level...

Paper Mario Bros. Becomes Reboot

Paper Mario Bros, a fan-game now officially in progress, is no longer paper. It will be the same game without all of the paper. Right now, the working title is Super Mario Bros. Reboot. The game will include the original SMB1 Levels, The Lost Levels, and New Levels designed in a new style formed from SMB3 sprites. Check out some screenshots of level 1-1. I made this while looking directly at a level editor, so it's pixel (or tile) perfect. Of course, there is a transparency problem on these ? Blocks, so don't worry about those.

Mario revisits 1-1 once again! All of the character, enemy, block, and item graphics were edited by me from the 8-bit original SMB3 sprites. Mario's colors were based off Mario Party Advance.
Mario just got hit by a Goomba (it's hard to take snapshots while playing). I'm sorry I didn't get any Fire Mario screenshots yet (I'm still deciding between what Fire Mario I should use). New levels should include some other power-ups not featured in the original.
In this screen, it's easy to tell that it's the beginning of the original 1-1 that we all love so dearly. Yes, the secret coin block right above Mario's head is still there.
Mario kicking a shell. Mario's abilities from SMB3 are all present as well as Spin Jump. Mario and the enemies also have smoother animations. The ? Blocks have been completely re-animated.

Well, I hope you're excited about these screens here. Of course, this is still an early prototype, so don't expect it to look perfect (ex. Mario's Cap indicating his life count is a little off). I plan on releasing a beta that includes part of the first world, including the original 1-1, 1-2, a Lost Level, and a New Level. Some other things (like Hammer Bros) may appear on the map screen.

Got anything to say about the new screenshots? How do you feel about the transition from Paper to Reboot? Post it all in the comments!

Two New Projects Revealed and SSBC

 I haven't said anything here since July...Wow...

Well, I am starting to work on two new projects. I don't know if any of them are official yet, so don't go crazy- I am trying to create a Paper Mario fan game and a Zelda fan game. Both would be very different than what would be expected from an average fan game, but these ideas will only make them more unique.

While I'm posting, I might as well say that I have officially stopped working on Super Smash Bros. Crusade. I've quit due to lack of interest in the rest of the project and the community for the game. It's not what I'm looking for in a fan game and I've dedicated enough of my time to it. I'm not against the game now or anything, but I have a feeling that the game won't be finished. Go check out the forums if you want to keep up with the slow development (Click Here).

Back to Paper Mario and Zelda:
The Zelda Project (it's current name) has much more progress than Paper Mario, but I still haven't done much. This above is Link's design for the game. This fan game will play like Zelda II, but with some elements from other Zelda games as well. I have created a potential overworld theme and I might show it soon too.

Paper Mario Bros. (it's current name) is just a new idea, but I love it. Basically, a few elements from Paper Mario will be added to the original Super Mario Bros. as well as a map screen to show not only new levels, but the Lost Levels as well. These elements to make the classic side-scroller much more fun include badges, partners, and items from the original N64 Paper Mario game. This won't be an RPG either.

I will continue to update The Zelda Project and Paper Mario Bros. here!

SSBC Demo v0.7 Update

I wish I could've gotten this up earlier, but you know...

If you've been following Super Smash Bros. Crusade on the forums, you would know that we originally intended to release the next demo (v0.7) two months ago. However, we've been held back by other things and we're coming to a close with the development for the demo. Here's what's new:
Donkey Kong will not be in the demo, despite being so heavily discussed and having all of his animations complete. Instead, an unlockable character that was made awhile back will be playable along with already confirmed and completed characters Gooey and Mr. Game and Watch. Right now, our focus is to also improve some of our stages, such as Planet Flora and Mute City.

I bet you're wondering about the release of this demo that we've been waiting so long to play. There is a powerful chance that 0.7 will be released sometime between August 2nd and August 6th. I can't say for sure and I don't want to until we are ready.

That's about it for now. More coming later.
