Paper Mario Bros. Becomes Reboot

Paper Mario Bros, a fan-game now officially in progress, is no longer paper. It will be the same game without all of the paper. Right now, the working title is Super Mario Bros. Reboot. The game will include the original SMB1 Levels, The Lost Levels, and New Levels designed in a new style formed from SMB3 sprites. Check out some screenshots of level 1-1. I made this while looking directly at a level editor, so it's pixel (or tile) perfect. Of course, there is a transparency problem on these ? Blocks, so don't worry about those.

Mario revisits 1-1 once again! All of the character, enemy, block, and item graphics were edited by me from the 8-bit original SMB3 sprites. Mario's colors were based off Mario Party Advance.
Mario just got hit by a Goomba (it's hard to take snapshots while playing). I'm sorry I didn't get any Fire Mario screenshots yet (I'm still deciding between what Fire Mario I should use). New levels should include some other power-ups not featured in the original.
In this screen, it's easy to tell that it's the beginning of the original 1-1 that we all love so dearly. Yes, the secret coin block right above Mario's head is still there.
Mario kicking a shell. Mario's abilities from SMB3 are all present as well as Spin Jump. Mario and the enemies also have smoother animations. The ? Blocks have been completely re-animated.

Well, I hope you're excited about these screens here. Of course, this is still an early prototype, so don't expect it to look perfect (ex. Mario's Cap indicating his life count is a little off). I plan on releasing a beta that includes part of the first world, including the original 1-1, 1-2, a Lost Level, and a New Level. Some other things (like Hammer Bros) may appear on the map screen.

Got anything to say about the new screenshots? How do you feel about the transition from Paper to Reboot? Post it all in the comments!

Two New Projects Revealed and SSBC

 I haven't said anything here since July...Wow...

Well, I am starting to work on two new projects. I don't know if any of them are official yet, so don't go crazy- I am trying to create a Paper Mario fan game and a Zelda fan game. Both would be very different than what would be expected from an average fan game, but these ideas will only make them more unique.

While I'm posting, I might as well say that I have officially stopped working on Super Smash Bros. Crusade. I've quit due to lack of interest in the rest of the project and the community for the game. It's not what I'm looking for in a fan game and I've dedicated enough of my time to it. I'm not against the game now or anything, but I have a feeling that the game won't be finished. Go check out the forums if you want to keep up with the slow development (Click Here).

Back to Paper Mario and Zelda:
The Zelda Project (it's current name) has much more progress than Paper Mario, but I still haven't done much. This above is Link's design for the game. This fan game will play like Zelda II, but with some elements from other Zelda games as well. I have created a potential overworld theme and I might show it soon too.

Paper Mario Bros. (it's current name) is just a new idea, but I love it. Basically, a few elements from Paper Mario will be added to the original Super Mario Bros. as well as a map screen to show not only new levels, but the Lost Levels as well. These elements to make the classic side-scroller much more fun include badges, partners, and items from the original N64 Paper Mario game. This won't be an RPG either.

I will continue to update The Zelda Project and Paper Mario Bros. here!
